Surface to Form: Print paint & Sew, Textile sculpture, object or decor A two-part workshop led by Jann Cheifitz and Tamar Mogendorff exploring the transformation of surface pattern into soft dimensional relief and textile sculpture.
Beginning with printmaking and painted imagery, participants will experiment with layering, shaping, padding, and stitching to transform two-dimensional surfaces into tactile sculptural forms.
Working intuitively, we will explore the relationship between image and object, color and form, creating unique textile pieces that exist between painting, sculpture, and textile.
No prior experience is necessary. Basic hand-sewing skills are helpful.
